Warm Weather at Last. Kickstarter, 1975 XLCH 1000 Sportster, It just had to happen "!6&$)(*~@?"

  First day here in Ireland that it has been warm enough to get into the workshop without tools sticking to my hands. The main focus is now on getting the Engine Running. I need to wire the electrics fit the Coils. Generator and Regulator. Plumb the oil lines and set up a fuel supply.

  Today was Exhausts and Kick starter. I finally got the two blots to secure the kicker/Sprocket cover plate fitted the exhausts, I still need to tie down the end of each to the frame.
Put the Kick start Spring on and the Kick start Pedal then one kick and 

   I got on to Fleabay there were two for sale and ordered a new one, from these guys, as usual with everything for me Ironhead the shipping costs more then the part :(

At least I can get on with the rest of the list ;)

Frame moved to the spare room. Nearly stripped

I have many different year parts but looks like the best fit with the top nut from the wide glide is the Ball Bearings rather then the Tapered roller bearing

Lowering front forks by 2"

So Grab the bull by the horns and cut those springs
Though I think another inch or so drop might look better!!!

Accel Voltage Regulator

Just won this at a quarter of the going rate on ebay
I will refurbish the generator, with the electronic ignition, new coils and a H4 headlight and LED Brake light. I should have a modernish dependable electrical system
The only thing left to get is a digital speedo.

Oil Filter

This is advertised as a Norton Commando Oil Filter and has the same Oil line Diameter as the Ironhead's so will be doing some testing with it in the return oil line

Update on Rocker Cover

After much work with the dremel and wet and dry and will need to do some more work when it is stripped. at the moment everything is sealed off to keep the crap out.
